History of mantafien

History of mantafien

Mantafien is a village under Gbako Local Government, Niger State, Nigeria. Its on the A124 highway in the west of the area at 9°03′00″N 6°09′00″E / 9.05000°N 6.15000°E . It has an area of 1,681 km2 and a population of 122,176 according to the 2015 census. The postal code of the area is 912.
Mantafien is the second largest village in Gbako Local Government Area after Edozhigi.
History is yet to confirm the first settlers of mantafien. The name Mantafien as it is written today by the majority of the people, but the standard written in nupe language is mantafyan.
Mantafyan is a conjuction of two words, "Mamman" and "Tafyan", that is "mammantafyan" as its corrupted today as Mantafyan or mantafien.
In the 21st century, Mantafien was not a single settlement but actually villages, closely namely:
1.Ezhi Mamman and
2.Ezhi Tafyan.
Mamman is a compound of "Man" (Nupe word for schoolar) and Tafe, Tafien or Tafyan (The great Hunter).
It was reported that In the old Nupe the word "Mamman" and "Tafe" will translates in to English as (Great Scholar) and (Great Hunter), Mamman (The great Islamic Scholar) was the great grand father of the late Sheikh Muhammad Awal Mankashi, and Their is beautiful story about him being called mankashi.

it was reported that the father of mankashi was a very pious man at the same time he was an "Aleem" (schoolar).
the incident was, their some group of people who happen to pass-through this man house (great grandfather of mankashi) and went to nearby village to sell their goods, so the goods is very heavy and they use to suffer alot before getting to the market, where they will sell their goods, so by him seing this, being a pious man he fell sorry for them, and he happend to stop them and buy all the goods from them. so by doing this, they discribe him as "mankashishi" (schoolar who stop the people of goods and buy it.) and letter corrupted as mankashi.
in 21st century, Mamman settled near Banti River while Tafyan settled near Kusodo river.
It was said that it was the valleys and the rivers (Banti and Kusodo) that attracted the first settlers, In those earlier days Banti and Kusodo was a big network of streams, people from nearby villages such as:
Lemu
Zannagi
Jankidi
Washigi
Ebiko
Batako and others, do come to the village yearly for fishing festival.......

Mantafien is categorize in to two groups:

2.mantafien Tako (mantafien down).
Some of the houses in mantafien Tifi are as follows;
1.Emi e woro.
2.Mawogi.
3.Emi e ndatsuzhi.
4.Gbagun.
5.Emi e dzanzhi

7.Emi e Gabizhi (popular know as Emi e limanzhi).
8.Emi e mama usadakun

10.Emi e lakinzhi. e.t.c
Some of the houses in mantafien Tako are as follows:

Luqman also known as Luqman the Wise.

Luqman also known as Luqman the Wise.

The truth fact about luqman being a prophet of Allah.
Alhamdulilah All praise is due to Allah S.W.A Complete blessing and salutation be upon prophet Muhamad Sallaahu Alaihi wasalam his companion, his household, and those that follow him, those shall follow him up to the day of kiyammah Ameen.
Luqman (also known as Luqman the Wise, Luqmaan, Lukman, and Luqman al-Hakeem; was a wise man for whom Surah Luqman the 31surah (chapter) of the Quran, was named. While the Quran does not state many personal details about Luqman's life, including when or where Luqman lived.
Some of the books of the seerah (historian's) make mentioned of him as a man from Nubiant descent, while others state that he was of South Arabian origin. There are many stories about Luqman in Persian , Arabic and Turkish literature , and various tafsir collections comment upon these stories.

The Quran does not state whether or not Luqman was a prophet, and Islamic scholars have differing views of the matter.
The story of Luqman is mentioned in Sura Luqman (31:12-19).
More About Luqman is stated in Ibn Kathir’s book, A summary of that story is stated below.

Luqman Ibn ‘Anqa’ Ibn Sadun or, as stated by As-Suhaili from Ibn Jarir and Al-Qutaibi, Luqman Ibn Tharan , was from among the people of Aylah (Jerusalem). He was a pious man who exerted himself in worship and who was blessed with wisdom.
Sufyan Ath- Thawri narrated from Al- Ash’ath after ‘Ikrimah on the authority of Ibn ‘Abbas (May Allah be pleased with him) that he was an Ethiopian slave who worked as a carpenter.
Qatadah narrated from Abdullah Ibn Az-Zubair that Jabir Ibn ‘Abdullah when asked about Luqman, said: “He was short with a flat nose. He wasfrom Nubia.”
Yahia Ibn Sa’ id Al-Ansari said after Sa’ id Ibn Al-Musayib that Luqman belonged to the black men of Egypt. He had thick lips and Allah the Almighty granted him wisdom but not prophethood.
‘Umar Ibn Qais and Al-A’mash narrated after Mujahid: Luqman was a huge black slave, thick lipped. While he was preaching a man who used to know him saw him and said: “Aren’t you the slave of so and so who used to look after my sheep not so long in the past?” Luqman said: “Yes!” The man said: “What raised you to this high state I see?” Luqman said: “The Divine Decree, repaying the trust, telling the truth and discarding and keeping silent regarding what does not concern me.” (This Hadith was narrated by Ibn Jarir after lbn Hamid after Al-Hakam.).
Ibn Wahb narrates that Luqman’s answer to the question about what had raised his status that people came to him for advice his answer was: “Lowering my gaze, watching my tongue, eating what is lawful, keeping my chastity, undertaking my promises, fulfilling my commitments, being hospitable to guests, respecting my neighbors, and discarding what does not concern me. All these made me the one you are looking at.” Abu Ad-Darda’ added that Luqman the wise was granted wisdom because he was self-restrained, silent, deep-thinking, and he never slept during the day. No one had ever seen him observing foolishly laughing.
He was very eloquent and well-versed or knowledgeable. He did not weep or cry when all his children died. He even used to frequent the princes and men of authority to mediate.

The majority of scholars are of the view that he was a wise man and not a prophet. Moreover, he was mentioned in the Glorious Qur’an and was highly praised by Allah S.W.A Who narrates his advice to his own son in which the first act that he forbids is Shirk (joining others with Allah S.W.A.)
The Prophet Muhammad(S.A.W.) also referred to Luqman’s saying this to his son, where Allah S.W.A said;

And (remember) when Luqman said unto his son, when he was exhorting him: O my dear son! Ascribe no partners unto Allah. Lo! to ascribe partners (unto Him) is a tremendous wrong -.(Luqman, 31:13).
The next advice that Luqman gives to his son and to mankind is taking care of parents. He states their rights over the children and tells the children to be kind to their parents even if they were nonbelievers. However, it is clarified that they should not be obeyed if they are inviting to disbelief in Allah S.W.A
This is followed by:
“ O my son! If it be (anything) equal to the weight of a grain of mustard seed, and though it be in a rock, or in the heavens or in the earth, Allah S.W.A will bring it forth. Verily, Allah S.W.A is Subtle (in bringing out that grain), Well-Aware (of its place),” i.e., he forbids wrong to the people even in the slightest way, for Allah S.W.A will bring it forth and bring him to account on the Day of kiyamah (Resurrection).
Luqman’s further advice to his son is : “O my son! perform As- Salat, enjoin (on people) Islamic Monotheism and all that is good and forbid (people) from disbelief in the Oneness of Allah, polytheists of all kinds and all that is evil and bad,i.e., with your hand, with your tongue and if you could not, let it be with your heart (i.e. reject and resent it). Then, he advised him to observe sobr (patience), he further said: “ and bear with patience whatever befalls you,” for the enjoining of what is good and forbidding the evil, will probably earn enmity from those who resent being corrected (but, the final reward form Allah S W A would surely be his). “ Verily, these are some of the important commandments (ordered by Allah with no exemption).”

Luqman warns his son against the sin of pride: “ And turn not your face away from men with pride,” cautioning against being showy or arrogant. Further, the advice regarding one’s bearing is: “ nor walk in insolence through the earth. Verily, Allah S.W.A likes not any arrogant boaster.”
Luqman then advises his son to be moderate in his walking: “And be moderate in your walking, and lower your voice,” i.e., if you talk, do not raise your voice very loudly because the braying of the donkey is the harshest of all voices.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Prophet (S.A.W)said: “When you hear the crowing of cocks, ask for Allah’s Blessings for (their crowing indicates that) they have seen an angel. And when you hear the braying of donkeys, seek refuge with Allah from Satan for (their braying indicates) that they have seen a Satan” (transmitted by Imam Al-Bukhari in his Sahih).
Other advice given by Luqman has been mentioned in a book titled Hikmat Luqman (Luqman’s Wisdom). From this valuable book, we get the following:
“On my son! Verily, wisdom has brought the indigent to the courts of kings” (narrated by Damurah after As- Sariy Ibn Yahia).

“O my son! If you come to a people’s setting, greet them with (saying As-Salamu ‘Alaikum (Peace be with you)), then, take a side and do not utter a word till they speak. If you find them observing the Remembrance of Allah, join them.
But, if they observe anything else, turn away from them and seek others (who remember Allah S.W.A)” (narrated by ‘Abdah lbn Sulaiman after Ibn Al-Mubarak after ‘Abdur Rahman Al-Mas’ udi after ‘Aun Ibn ‘Abdullah).
“O my son! Take Allah’s Obedience as your trade, and you will gain profits without having any merchandises” (narrated by Saiyar after Ja’far after Malik Ibn Dinar). “O my son! Fear Allah and do not let the people notice that you fear Him to gain honor (from them) while your heart is sinful” (narrated by Abul Ashhab after Muhammad Ibn Wasi’). “O my son! I have never regretted keeping silent. If words are silver, silence is golden” (told by Hasan after Al-Junaid after Sufyan).
“O my son! Stay away from evil and it will stay away from you, for evil begets nothing but evil” (told by ‘Abdul Samad and Waki’ after Abul Ashhab after Qatadah).
“O my son! Choose between gatherings (of people) precisely! If you find a gathering in which Allah is mentioned, sit yourself with them. Thus, if you are knowledgeable, your knowledge will benefit you; but, if you are ignorant, they will teach you; and if Allah wishes to do them good, you will be benefited therewith.
O my son! Do not sit in a gathering in which Allah is not mentioned because if you are knowledgeable, your knowledge will not benefit you; and if you are ignorant, they will add to your ignorance; and if Allah S.W.A wishes to afflict them with harm, you will be afflicted with them.
O my son! Do not rejoice at seeing a strong man who sheds the blood of the faithful, for Allah appoints for him a killer that does not ever die” (narrated by Imam Ahmed after ‘Abdur Rahman Ibn Mahdi after Nafi’ Ibn ‘Umar after Ibn Abu Malikah after ‘Ubaid Ibn ‘Umair).

“O my son: Let your speech be good and your face be smiling; you will be more loved by the people than those who give them provisions.” And, he said: “It is stated in the wisdom of the Torah: “Kindness is the head of wisdom.” And, he said: “It is stated in the Torah: “As you show mercy (to others), mercy will be shown to you.” And, he said: “It is stated in the wisdom: “You will gain what you give (or, harvest what you grow).” And, he said: “It is stated in the wisdom: “Love your friend and the friend of your father” (narrated by Abu Mu’awiyah after Hisham Ibn ‘Urwah).
Luqman advised his son not to befriend a fool for it might give him the impression that his foolishness is being approved of; and not to anger a wise man for he might distance himself (narrated by Dawud Ibn Rashid after Ibn Al-Mubarak after Mu’amir after Abu ‘Uthman).
Luqman was once asked: “Who is the best one in terms of patience?” He said: “It is the one who practices no harm after observing patience.” Then he was asked: “Who is the best one in terms of knowledge?” He said : “It is he who adds to his own knowledge through the knowledge of others. ” When asked: “Who is the best from among the whole people?” he said: “It is the wealthy.” They said: “Is it the one who has properties and riches?” He said: “No! But, it is the one who is generous in doing good when others seek it from him, and, it is the one who does not need anything from others”( narrated by Abdur Razzaq after Mu’amir after Ayyub after Abu Qulabah).
Yazid Ibn Hamn and Waki’ told us after Abul AShhab about Khalid Ar- Rab’i as saying: “Luqman was an Ethiopian slave who worked as a carpenter. One day, his master ordered him to slaughter a goat and bring him the most nice and delicious two parts from it. Luqman brought him the tongue and heart. The master asked: “Didn’t you find anything more nice than these?” Luqman said: “No!” After a while, the master ordered him to slaughter a goat and to throw away two of the most malignant parts. Luqman slaughtered the goat and threw away the tongue and heart. The master exclaimed and said: “I ordered you to bring me the most delicious parts and you brought me the tongue and heart, and I ordered you to throw away the most malignant parts and you threw away the tongue and heart, how can this be?” Luqman said: “Nothing can be more pleasing than these if they are good and nothing can be more malicious than these if they are malignant.”

Dawud Ibn Usaid told us after Isma’il Ibn ‘Ayyash after Damdam Ibn Zar’ah after Shuraih Ibn ‘Ubaid Al-Hadrami after ‘Abdullah Ibn Zaid: Luqman said: “Verily, Allah’s Hand is on the mouths of wise men; none of them speaks but with what Allah S.W.A assigned for him.”
Abdur Razzaq told us after Mu’amir after Ayyub after Abu Qulabah that according to Sufyan Ibn ‘Uyaynah, Luqman was asked: ‘Who is the worst of all people?” He replied : “It is the one who does not feel shame if found committing a sinful deed.”
Abu As-Samad reported to us that Malik Ibn Dianr said: I found some pieces of-wisdom as follows: “Allah Almighty scatters and wastes the bones of those who give religious opinions that go with the people’s lusts and desires.” And, “There is no good for you that you learn something new while you do not practice what you have learned previously. This is like a man who gathered a pile of dry wood, then tried to carry it but couldn’t. Thereupon, he collected a second one.”
Ibn Abu Hatim said: I was told by my father after Al-‘Abbas Ibn Al-Walid after Zaid Ibn Yahya Ibn ‘Ubaid Al-Khuza’i after Sa’id Ibn Bashir that Qatadah said: Allah Almighty enabled Luqman to choose between Prophethood and wisdom and he (Luqman) preferred wisdom to Prophethood. Then, Gabriel came while he was asleep and poured the wisdom over him. And, he began to pronounce it the next morning.
Many from among our earlier scholars, foremost among whom were Mujahid, Sa’id Ibn Al-Musayyb and Ibn ‘Abbas (May Allah be pleased with him), were of the view that Allah’s Statement that reads: “And indeed We bestowed upon Luqman Al- Hikmah (wisdom),” means: discretion and religious understanding. He was not a Prophet and nothing had been revealed to him Al- Wahi (Divine Inspiration).
This story was taken from the summarized version of Ibn-Kathir book available in an e-book form at the following link and source: Quranic Verses related to the story of LUQMAN make reference to Luqman.
In the Quran
The Quranic account of Luqman's life involves him offering his son religious and moral advice. He urges his son to avoid polytheism and worship Allah alone. [Quran 31:14 ]
He also instructs his son to be modest in attitude and to avoid arrogance. [Quran 31:18 ]
While the text states that Allah gave Luqman "wisdom", it does not explicitly state that he is a prophet.

A number of scholars speculate that he was a mythical figure known in pre-Islamic times, though there has been much debate about the relationship of the pre-Islamic and Islamic Luqmans. Some maintain that the two are the same person; others that they simply share the same name. Both Ibn Kathir and the Islamic historian Ibn Ishaq allude to a pre- Islamic "Book of Luqman", or "roll of Luqman", containing his wisdom, though no such work has survived, and it is unclear if the reports of its existence are true.

"O Son, if thou art able not to sleep, then thou art able not to die. And if thou art able not to waken after sleep, then thou shalt be able not to rise after death.”

Nupe before 15 century

Nupe before 15 century

Nupe before 15 century

History is yet to confirmed the truth origin of Nupes, with facts. Although, there are several hypothesis on the origin of Nupe

Some show that The ancestor of Nupe was Ugba bn Nafi who originated from Nubia

The analysis is that people called Nupe today, migrated from the settlement of their ancestors-Nubia.

Due to the long time pronunciation and transformation of the Nupe language into different dialects, the word Nubia got corrupted and pronounced as Nupe as they called today.

Other hypothesis group Nupe language to belong to the Sudanese language called KWA_group2 where other languages like Yoruba,Igbo,Edo,igala, ijaw, and Adonis belong.

However, oral hypothesis3 exercise the pride of Nupe coming from MASSAR {EGYPT}.

The proof to this hypothesis is the retaining of ancient glass industry in the capital of Nupe Kingdom_ Bida ,the ancient glass industry is still managed by the descendant of the Egyptians in their quarters called MASSAGA,although the industry was latter introduced into Nupe kingdom after the established of bida Emirates as the capital of the Nupe kingdom.

However, this hypothesis reveals how the Arabs (founder) of the industry traced their long time missing brothers from their history: the phrase if slogan, protecting this hypothesis is always sang especially by the descendants while at work Daga Massaga said massar' meaning"..........................if not massaga it must be Egypt....."

That is the glass work industry (ancient) of such can only be found in message in the present capita of nupe kingdom and their original root(Egypt).it was said that the word MASSAGA is a corruption of the word MASSAR

None of the above hypothesis can easily be ignored but need to be seriouse filtered and research into in order to arrive at the original of the Nupes by historian.

Before 15th century,Nupes were know to have settled at the riverian areas of the niger_area.Nigeria in west Africa .they lived in separate of the comunite and each community was headed by a community leader called zhitsu who was only one among the equals.

He might have more than one village under him .in these town king was vested with the power to collect tribute from other subordinate settlement or new settler ,to mobilized warrior's for defence and protection of the kin'tsu (land of etsu)

Although, as it is know today with different dialect was not recognized as such. The only identified language of Nupe was binis, they had twelve settlement from the beginning: bida, dojo, essan, ewu, tafyan, yessa,EDA,gaba, nku, nupeko, kpanjuru , and towAgi.these community were political independent of one another. However they strongly linked together economically with idah and igala land under the rulership of the Attach of igala, to whom annual tribute from Nupe chief were paid.

there was a peaceful co_existence within Nupeland for centuries, as their relationship with igala continued. Then not much about the nupe was universally know as their intimate neighbourhood igala were know.

they were pegans practicing different religious with only blurred shadow of islam inclined5.in those centuries,Nupe kingdom was eclipsed with superstition, sharing common cults.each community in its location has their idols (cults) which they worshipped, mama, saba, gunnu, and dazho.

these cults were worshiped annually for ceremony purposes, stability and peace for a new leader and funeral ceremony of a deceased chief.

the cult activities were officiated by custodian and of office_chief priest(NDA zhigu).the honoured title reserved for the priest is Ndazo. However, pilgrimage was performed annually to the abodes of these cults in every town.

10 Things To Do Before Ramadan.

10 Things To Do Before Ramadan.

Dear Brothers and sisters in islam,All Praise is to Allaah who has brought us to this moment, Rajab. There's no doubt, Ramadan is fast knocking on our doors, thus, we beseech Allaah(SWT) to preserve us in faith and health till then, ameen.
I know you are aware of what Ramadan comes with; its virtues and opportunities. Hence, I admonish you and myself on the following:
1. Repay your missed fasts, don't be in the league of those seeking fatwa when others are seeking the new moon.
2.Try and perfect your recitations; will you be missing the great rewards of reciting the Quran in this year's Ramadan because of the difficulty you encounter in recitation? There's time, go and meet your Imam, Mallam, Alfa.. rectify those "crackings". May Allaah make it easy.
3.Go for a medical check up and treat your ailments, may Allaah heal you. You may repay fast if missed but what's better than fasting Ramadan in the blessed month itself?
4.Go and do muraja(revision); yes! you've memorized 1,2,3...30 juz from the Quran. Will you be holding mushaf to perform qiyamulayl??
5.Get used to tahajud..... Long one, don't be in the first 3 taraweeh league.
6. Start saving up: if feeding yourself and your family may be difficult, you still have time to put things together and 'hussle'too.
7. Learn more about Ramadan: Yes, there will be many seatings of knowledge in Ramadan but you need to attend before it. Plus, ask questions about unclear or unknown rulings. You can't afford to waste your effort. May Allaah accept it.
8. Don't be a glutton: you know you can't do without eating an hour. Ramadan is at your door, be disciplined!
9. AVOID ALCOHOL : it's a sin yesterday, today and tomorrow, not only in Ramadan. It's the mother of sins and renders your 40 days solah useless. Imagine! Someone sips a cup of alcohol on 21st of sha'ban.... Alcohol ingestion is evil.. Avoid it!!!!!!!!
10. Sharing of this Article . . .
Please share this.
May Allaah preserve us till the month of Ramadan. May He strengthen us to be able to perform as many deeds in the Holy Month and afterwards and reward us from His mercies, Ameen.

 Rulings of fasting

Rulings of fasting

The obligation to fast during the month of Ramadan
1. The linguist meaning of sawm Is to totally abstain from something, as in the following peotic verses:
" Horses which hold back and horses which do not hold back Beneath the dust( of battle), which others are chomping at the bit."
This was said by An-Nabighah Az-Zubyani in his 'Deewan'(112).
( Translators note: His real name was Ziyad ibn mu'awiyah a poet)
The juristic meaning of sawm:Refraining from eating, drinking and sexual intercourse, along with the intention to do so, from dawn until sunset.
Some Qur'anic commentator have said that two kinds of sawn are mentioning in Qur'an:
The first is the juristic type of sawm which is known as in the words of Allah the most high said:
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ كُتِبَ عَلَيۡڪُمُ ٱلصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِڪُمۡ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَتَّقُونَ O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you, even as it was prescribed for those before you, that ye may ward off (evil);Q-2:183
also in another verse Allah the most high said:
The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for mankind, and clear proofs of the guidance, and the Criterion (of right and wrong). And whosoever of you is present, let him fast the month, and whosoever of you is sick or on a journey, (let him fast the same) number of other days. Allah desireth for you ease; He desireth not hardship for you; and (He desireth) that ye should complete the period, and that ye should magnify Allah for having guided you, and that peradventure ye may be thankful. Q-2:185
The second is silence as in the words of Allah, the most high:
فَكُلِى وَٱشۡرَبِى وَقَرِّى عَيۡنًا‌ ۖ فَإِمَّا تَرَيِنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡبَشَرِ أَحَدًا فَقُولِىٓ إِنِّى نَذَرۡتُ لِلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ صَوۡمًا فَلَنۡ أُڪَلِّمَ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ إِنسِيًّا So eat and drink and be consoled. And if thou meetest any mortal, say: Lo! I have vowed a fast unto the Beneficent, and may not speak this day to any mortal. Q-19:26
there is nothing disliked in a person saying"
ramadhan has come and ramadhan has gone ,"according to the majority Muslim scholars, based upon the hadith of Abu hurairah may Allah be pleased with him Who reported that the messager Of Allah may peace be upon him said.
When the month of ramadhan come, the gates of paradise are opened, the gates of hell are closed and the devils are chained up"
Narrated by Al-bukahri in (no.1899) and Muslim (no.1079).
This is an authentic hadith. It is also because saying that something is dislike must be substantiated by a legal prohibition of it and there is no such confirmation in the Islamic law. As for the hadith Abu hurairah may Allah be pleased with him in which it is stated that he said: " the messenger of Allah may peace be upon him said:
"Do not say: " Ramadan ", because Ramadan is one of the names of Allah; instead, say: the month of Ramadan." It is a week hadith.

the ruling of fasting:Fasting in Ramadan is one of the pillars of Islam.
